A new tower for a far east hub

Located in the area of Cong Truong Me Linh roundabout in District 1 next to the new Vietcombank Tower, the Hilton Saigon Hotel enjoys a premium location in the heart of the Central Business District where most of the city's administrative offices, consulates and major commercial buildings are located. SESC are engaged on the project by Unity Investment Corporation to provide commissioning agent services starting with the design review of the MEP services of the hotel which spans a total GFA of 53,800 square metres. The hotel features 32 floors, 4 basements, 312 guest rooms, a ballroom with a capacity for 1,200 people, and other amenities including spa, fitness and retail. Located at the corner of a traffic-circle, Aurecon worked closely with other consultants to design an optimal solution to overcome various challenges posed by the small land footprint. For instance, the tower required several complex transfers to accommodate ballrooms, meeting rooms and entertainment areas beneath the standard bay of the hotel’s structural frame. A deep basement solution was designed to meet constructability requirements, the intent of Hilton Hotels Worldwide, and architectural and interior design elements. To improve energy efficiency and sustainability, the air-conditioning system was designed to recycle exhaust air from indoors to pre-cool outdoor air within the premise. Room control units were programmed to reduce ventilation rates for unoccupied rooms. The building’s heat pump is designed to take cold water from the chiller system to produce hot water, thus optimising the efficiency of the chiller system.
